Elixir Challenge
Shaken or stirred?
The elixir of life, also known as elixir of immortality, is a potion that supposedly grants the drinker eternal life and/or eternal youth. This elixir was also said to cure all diseases. What if we could concoct an elixir of our own? The Elixir Challenge is an engaging activity that is set in the evening, once the sun goes down. Teams are ushered into a banquet room and challenged to transform into mixologists for the evening. Are you wondering, “Who is a mixologist?”
A mixologist is a term given to practitioners of “mixology,” which is really just another way of referring to the practice of making good cocktails. Mixology might seem like a newfangled term, but it’s actually pretty old, like mid-19th century old, and was only revived as a way to describe the recent renaissance of bartenders caring (a lot) about their craft.
The Elixir Challenge is a fantastic team bonding experience. It challenges traditional wisdom of what “should be” done in a corporate event. Alcohol when blended with fun, laughter, trivia, friends and just the right dose of friendly competition makes for the perfect evening concoction!
The Elixir Challenge allows team members to let their hair down and interact with each other in a casual manner that makes it an easy, memorable experience for all. As they learn to mix, shake, chop and stir up unique and creative cocktail combinations, they also get an opportunity to absorb the finer points of cocktail creation from our Facilitators. Nothing comes easy though in a FocusU workshop, which means that everything needs to be “earned” through the competition that we “stir up” for you!
Much like a great team is made of different and varying characters – a great cocktail (or mocktail) is also a mixture of different spirits, liqueurs, sweeteners, and citrus, all presented in the right combination. Understanding which elements work best together is a lesson with many parallels to great teamwork and how the strengths of each team member combine to achieve a team goal.
