American futurist Jamais Cascio described a new paradigm at the beginning of the COVID pandemic: an escalation of VUCA, fit to match the reality of an increasingly chaotic world – BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible)

To prevail at such times calls for leaders to face their own emotions and anxieties. It also calls on them to embrace a whole new toolkit that combines courage, openness towards new things with accepting responsibility to take charge.

The different phases of BANI can be handled as below:

  • Brittleness: By developing resilience
  • Anxiety: By mindfulness and empathy
  • Non-linear: By nurturing flexibility in thinking
  • Incomprehensible: By encouraging transparency, increasing a collaboration culture

The simulation addresses generic challenges encountered at the workplace. The customisation to the specific cohort as per their industry / company situation is done by the Facilitator running the session.
