How would you describe FocusU culture?
Any organisation’s culture is defined by its values and at FocusU, we are glad that the values here are lived everyday by each and every employee. The values are Care, Humility, Openness, Passion and Safety. Everyone can easily resonate with all of them. Another important factor that adds to the organisation’s culture is to have a “No Surprise Culture” which basically means being transparent with each other and sharing all the updates and opinions openly. To add to that, the element of hygge adds another level of comfort and warmth towards each other as people, making this place feel like a home away from home.
What has surprised you the most about being here?
Working here is a never-ending learning journey. There are so many aspects to everything, that coming to office is exciting everyday, which is actually quite surprising. Also, the fact that you are open to explore everything other than your KRA is surprising as a lot of other organizations do not give such freedom to their employees.
What keeps you here?
The people, the culture and the work we do. It is so overwhelming to know that every time we do a workshop, we are creating a meaningful experience for our customers by adding some or the other value to their lives. Be it a CSR activity or a leadership workshop, it is always beautiful to realize that we made somebody learn something new and most importantly, brought a smile to their faces. And of course, it’s always the people that make a company that in turn, makes you stay! 🙂
Have you been able to follow your interests?
The answer is a big YES. The culture in the company is such that I get enough time to pursue my interests but most importantly being encouraged to take up things that interest us while at work. For example, learning to play a musical instrument that I had never picked before or executing a small activity in front of a client to take up facilitation.
