Rhea Singhal has traversed a path of purpose and passion. Her story serves as a reminder that even the greatest challenges can be overcome with grit, passion, and an unwavering commitment to making a positive impact.
Rhea is the founder and CEO of Ecoware, India’s first and largest sustainable packaging company. She is a World Economic Forum ‘Young Global Leader’ and has recently been honored with the Nari Shakti Puraskar, the highest civilian honor for women in India.
Rhea’s first exposure to business was within Pfizer’s Oncology team in the UK, where she worked for several years in a commercial role with much success. After moving back to India, Rhea founded Ecoware in 2010, with the objective of improving India’s plastic menace by making the most sustainable packaging in the most ethical way possible.
Ecoware disrupted the food packaging industry by introducing a fully compostable alternative to plastic and Styrofoam. All Ecoware products are 100% natural, compostable, and biodegradable.
Rhea’s entrepreneurial journey was riddled with challenges. Not only did she have to navigate the intricacies of establishing a consumer business, she also faced the stigma associated with being a female business entrepreneur and a non-native speaker. Her journey involved persuading generational traders across India to sell a product they had never seen before, which meant jeopardizing their revenue. However, one of Rhea’s most notable triumphs came in the form of securing a monumental partnership with the Indian Railways, the largest food service operator in India, and convincing them to adopt Ecoware packaging.
Beyond her entrepreneurial achievements, Rhea has become a role model for aspiring entrepreneurs and changemakers around the world.
Rhea has been featured in various publications, including Forbes, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, India Today, and CNBC. She is widely recognized for her profound impact on diverse forums and collaboration with renowned organizations like Salesforce, Samsung, FedEx, Accenture, UNEP, and many others.
She is a globally recognized thought leader, making significant contributions across diverse fields including Circular Economy, Sustainable Packaging, and Climate Change.
She continues to inspire others with her relentless pursuit of a cleaner, more sustainable world.
