Know Your Facilitator
Deeya Bajaj is an internationally acclaimed adventurer, motivational speaker and business leader. Her accomplishments range from being a PADI-certified rescue diver to climbing Mount Everest.
At the tender age of 14, Deeya participated in a sea kayaking expedition along the west coast of Greenland. She was the team’s youngest member. At 17, she became the youngest skier in the world to undertake the Trans Greenland Skiing Expedition.
She has completed a basic and advanced course in mountaineering from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. She also holds an instructor’s degree in Cross Country Skiing and White Water Kayaking from Cornell University. In addition, she is a PADI certified rescue diver, keen white-water and sea kayaker and Taekwondo Black belt.
In 2012, she summited Mt. Elbrus, the highest mountain in Europe. 2018 saw her climbing Mt. Everest (highest mountain in the world) and Mt.Kilimanjaro (highest mountain in Africa). A year later, in 2019, she scaled Mt. Vinson (Highest mountain in Antarctica) and Mt. Aconcagua (highest mountain in South America). She has climbed all 7 of the highest mountains on each continent. She and her father, Ajeet Bajaj (Padma Shri), are the first Father-Daughter duo to summit Mt. Everest from the North Side.
Deeya used the funds collected during her 2012 Trans Greenland Skiing Expedition to fund the “Ganga Vatika Home for Girls”. She is a TEDx speaker and has led workshops for a variety of corporates, including Uber, ATOAI, Embassy Group, Oris Swiss Watches, Lodha Ventures, MCKS, Epsilon, NDTV, SKAL International, CEEW, Impulse Fashion, Confederation of Indian Industry and JK Tyres.
In her talk “Higher than Everest” Deeya delivers messages about leadership and teamwork, women’s empowerment as well as sustainability and environmental concerns. Having travelled the most tough terrains of the world, she talks about how to think, take decisions, lead and be a team player in times of adversity. When she speaks about dreaming big and working hard to make those dreams come true, it is from her own personal experience.
