It was time to
challenge the status quo.
Not fill more conference rooms. Not deliver more wisdom. Create a new space for people to learn differently — through doing, not slides.
The truth? When I started, people would ask me: "Do you really think my team will play games?"
Only international companies took the leap. Everyone else waited.
I started my learning career at Talents — and quickly saw the gap. A wide, uncomfortable gap between what Mauritian teams needed and what the training market was supplying. Same rooms. Same slides. Same tired trainers repeating the same tired frameworks.
Meanwhile the world was changing. Fast.
Post-COVID, everything shifted. Suddenly, clients started to realise — there's a different way to learn. And that's where it all started.
I was in Thailand at the time. Between jobs. Uncertain about the next step. My husband said something I'll never forget: "What's the worst thing that can happen?"
That was the permission I needed. I booked my ticket to India — to meet the crazy gang at FocusU India.
Rakesh, the co-founder, saw the passion instantly. He met me with the same fire I'd been carrying alone for years. And I always say — I didn't just meet them. I went to bring the magic potion back to Mauritius.
And that's what we're still doing — one team, one room, one Monday-morning shift at a time.
Three things we’re
stubborn about.
Everything on this site — every workshop, every event, every conversation — comes back to these.
From “will my team play games?”
to 500+ teams served.
Small team.
Big magic potion.
Every project is held by a dedicated advisor — one WhatsApp thread, one person who knows your team, one hand on the tiller. No account-management merry-go-round.
FocusU India — where the magic potion is brewed.
Behind every Mauritius delivery: 100+ facilitators, designers, and researchers across FocusU India. Led by Rakesh, the co-founder who backed the passion from day one.
