Innovative Virtual Team Building: Energizing remote teams for an IT Consultancy firm through the BOMS Challenge and #Dontrushchallenge
An IT consulting firm collaborated with FocusU to offer a virtual team-building program for its employees after a rigorous six-week period of work during lockdown. The initiative consisted of two main phases. In Phase 1, the “BOMS Challenge” (Body, Mind, and Sole) engaged a smaller group of 12 participants in a series of lively, physical and mental activities. This quick-paced challenge promoted teamwork, engagement, and energy, with enthusiastic feedback from participants.
Building on this success, Phase 2 introduced the “#Dontrushchallenge” to a larger group of 60 employees. Inspired by a popular social media trend, this activity had teams creatively collaborate to produce themed 15-second videos, showcasing unity and ingenuity. Themes like “Keeping Fit” encouraged participants to brainstorm, use props, and get family involved in video-making, creating a dynamic, shared experience.
The session closed with a debrief on key teamwork elements like ownership, resilience, and situational leadership. The program received positive feedback for enhancing connectivity and team morale, delivering an engaging break from routine while fostering virtual collaboration.
